Short BIO
I have been a professional musician for over 20 years and released seven albums and two EPs. I have performed in concerts and festivals in several countries across Latin America and Europe. In addition, I have collaborated with many musicians and participated in other projects as a guitarist, producer, and musical director. Currently, I am also the guitarist, singer, and musical director of the cumbia and Latin music band “Rumbia.”
My musical influences come from popular music such as jazz, rock, and blues, but above all from Peruvian popular music and Latin American folk songs. Other important influences on my music include traveling and a very intense personal inner search over the last 15 years. Along that path, I have explored a wide range of emotions in my life and expressed them through my songs.
Rhythm is a fundamental element in my music. I’m always seeking to connect my songs with a primal rhythm that links me—and those who listen to my music—to our deepest emotions. To do this, I draw upon traditional rhythms from Peru, the Andes, and Afro-Peruvian music.
Every now and then, I enjoy changing and exploring new directions. I’ve performed in various formats (band, duo, trio, solo, electric, acoustic). Currently, I perform with percussion (cajón, congas, and djembe), double bass, guitar, and vocals.
Now that I live outside my country, I am seeking to find my place as a migrant in Austria—a space where I can feel identified. I believe the best thing I can offer is to share where I come from: my language and my culture, integrating with the world.
